Career Development Workshops, Sponsored by IHS

The Institute for Humane Studies is sponsoring a series of career-development webcasts here. On March 5th, I’ll be discussing how to succeed in graduate school (i.e., how to act in grad school to maximize your chances of getting a job afterwards). There are also seminars on time management, picking a dissertation topic, CV-writing, and more. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: In my experience, most graduate students are woefully underprepared for the job market. Their schools focus on teaching them how to write research papers, but the students don’t know what it takes to get a job, what it takes to be a professional, or what it takes to market yourself. The academic job market is extremely competitive right now. Prepare!
