Collision With Error

For “Friedman Legacy Day” I gave a talk over in Wilmington, NC. My thesis was that higher education has a problem with intellectual diversity, and that the real drawback with that is that we are failing the students on the LEFT.

A (much edited) version of my talk. In the talk, I was quite a bit more equivocal, noting that the colleagues I am calling “Indignation Studies” scholars are in fact quite accomplished people. The question is whether we need to have differences in views, not just differences in hues, in our faculty.

Here is one student response from last fall (from the Chronicle, newspaper at Duke), one that illustrates my point pretty well.

UPDATE:  Another opinion, concurring in part and dissenting in part, by my good friend George Leef at NRO.
