Me, Elsewhere

I’ve written a few things for other websites that might be of interest to readers of this blog.

  • The Washington Post’s In Theory blog is doing a series on the basic income this week. They kicked it off with a short piece by me this morning, in which I praise the anti-paternalism of the basic income. I’ve become increasingly convinced by critics such as Michael Tanner that a full BIG might not be affordable, but we can and probably should move in that direction.
  • Over at Daily Nous, a bunch of us philosophers were asked to discuss the Daraprim case – where Martin Shkreli’s firm bought a drug that used to sell for around $13 a pill and jacked the price up to $750. As a known defender of price gouging, I imagine the editor expected me to leap to Shkreli’s defense. However, the case is interestingly more complicated than that.
