For understandable reasons, the modern libertarian movement has focused much of its energy on trying to demonstrate the superiority of the market economy to various forms of government regulation and intervention. Doing so remains very important, but we also live in a time where government is violating the rights of individuals across the world in variety of other ways. Libertarians need to say more about issues such as foreign intervention, domestic surveillance and privacy generally, same-sex marriage, censorship, gun control, and alcohol/drugs/smoking regulations among others. In this webinar, I will discuss some of these issues and try to locate them in the broader history and tradition of classical liberalism and libertarianism. The liberty movement was born not just to defend the market, but all forms of human freedom.
