Libertarianism

A Very Short Discourse on the Origin of Inequality

With apologies to Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

“The first person who, having donned a crown of gold, took it into his head to say ‘I am king’ and found people simple enough to believe him was the true founder of civil society. What crimes, wars, murders, what miseries and horrors would the human race have been spared, had some one pulled off that crown or toppled the throne and cried out to his fellow men: ‘Do not listen to this imposter. You are lost if you forget that the fruits of your labor belong to you and your life to no one else!'”

Ok, that probably makes me sound a bit more anarchistic than I actually am. But reading Rousseau has that effect on me.
