Some academic announcements

1) People who are writing political theory or philosophy book manuscripts: there are still couple of days left in which to apply to the annual Montreal Political Theory Manuscript Workshop Award from the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire en Philosophie Politique. (Manuscripts in either English or French are welcome.)

2) The Journal of Politics, the traditional #3 generalist political science journal, has announced its new editorial board. Political theory field editor Lisa Ellis has assembled a wide-ranging and impressive group of theorists to manage submissions in that field. I would like to strongly encourage people to send in work. We’re eager to publish excellent articles in the subfield. While generalist journals in political science sometimes have a mixed record at treating theory submissions fairly and competently, I hope that a look through the list of theorists on the new editorial board will provide reassurance on that count.

3) Association for Political Theory Call for Papers.

4) Application season for Institute for Humane Studies summer seminars is now open.

5) Bas and I, along with a number of longstanding friends of BHL (Peter Jaworski, Chris MacDonald, Carmen Pavel, etc.), have pieces in this symposium issue of The Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy on “The Ethics of Lobbying.”

6) I’m not willing to do the full-blog-press kind of constant book promotion that one sometimes sees, but I will do some blogging soon about themes and ideas in my new book, and in the meantime I’ll mention its existence here: Rationalism, Pluralism, and Freedom, Oxford University Press. Available in Canada and the UK, and available for pre-order in the US.
